Severe weather alerts
IMPACT-BASED WARNINGS
A yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms is expected along the western and central parts of KwaZulu-Natal with possible strong damaging winds and large hail that could lead to localised damage to infrastructure, settlements, vehicles, livelihood and livestock, as well as injuries due to flying debris, fires due to excessive lightning and localised flooding of susceptible roads.
FIRE DANGER WARNINGS:
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over parts of Limpopo (excluding the Mopani District), western parts of the North West Province, the northern parts of the Free State and southern Highveld of Mpumalanga
ADVISORIES:
Heatwave conditions resulting in persistently high temperatures, exceeding the average maximum, are expected over the eastern parts of the North-West Province and Gauteng, the Limpopo valley and western Bushveld, spreading to the central and northern parts of the Free State, and persisting until Tuesday (05 December 2023).

Temperature: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated evening showers and thunderstorms.

Mpumalanga
Temperature: Fine and warm to hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated showers and thundershowers in the afternoon, except in the Lowveld.
Limpopo
Temperature: Partly cloudy and hot to very hot, but extremely hot in the Western Bushveld.
North West
Temperature: Partly cloudy, windy and hot to very hot with isolated showers and thundershowers over the south and east parts.
Free State
Temperature: Morning fog patches over the extreme east, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and warm to hot with isolated to scattered showers and thundershowers except over the south-west.
Northern Cape
Temperature: Fine and cool to warm in the west, otherwise partly cloudy, windy and hot to very hot.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong in the evening.
Western Cape
Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool to warm, otherwise cloudy along the south coast with intermittent chances of light rain.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, but strong along the west coast in the afternoon.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Extreme
Eastern Cape
The Western half: Partly cloudy and cool with isolated showers of rain along the coast and adjacent interior where it will be cloudy.
The Western half – The wind along the coast will be light and variable, becoming moderate south-easterly.
The Eastern half: Cloudy and cool with isolated showers and rain, but scattered south of the escarpment.
The Eastern half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate south-westerly, becoming south-easterly in the afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal
Temperature: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and cool, but warm in the west and extreme north-east with scattered showers and thundershowers.
Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate southerly to south- westerly.
The expected UVB Sunburn Index: Very High.
