KHUNE SAYS BRANDON PETERSEN IS RECEIVING PSYCHOLOGICAL CARE
This comes after Khune – who is the Amakhosi captain – told Sunday World, in an article published at the weekend, that his teammate is receiving psychological care.
“We [players] all know what he is going through, and we are trying to help him,” Khune was quoted as saying.

The Bafana Bafana goalkeeper revealed that Chiefs has provided help for Petersen through a former Springboks psychologist.
“Even the club has provided resources for him by bringing in Dr Henning Gericke, who is a psychologist, just to discover what he is going through on and off the field.
“So, they have been having sessions and you could see that Brandon has changed his way of doing things – he is not himself.
“He is a father, a leader and as the captain of the club, I’m grooming him [to be the future captain] when the legs cannot carry me anymore. I know the armband will be in safe hands.”

FANS REACT
On the social media platform X, Khune’s divulgence was slammed. However, other netizens defended him on the basis that he is the club captain.
“Kaizer Chiefs must discipline Itumeleng Khune. He got no right at all to discuss Petersen personal issues. I hope management will do right here. We can’t have a player becoming a spokesman for the club while we have channels within.”
“What Khune did is out of hand. Only the club and the player should communicate about his mental health issues. That just not on man [sic].”

“We can’t be blaming Khune for what he said while the team isn’t saying anything. How do we know if the team gave him the permission to say such?”
“The Petersen stuff, is it weird because Khune said it? Coz [sic] I swear I heard Cavin Johnson mention the same thing in a press conference but there was no reaction.”
“What if Khune was sent to say that by the club.. as the club captain? What if nimthukela mahhala? [What if you are insulting him for nothing?] ”
