Kaizer Chiefs set deadline for new coach
According to a Kickoff report, Chiefs have set a deadline to appoint a new coach.
They want a full-time trainer installed before the January transfer window.
“The club has realised their mistake of appointing average coaches lately, and also that some of their signings are lacking quality,” a source told KickOff.
“The management is currently still negotiating with some candidates; they are looking to appoint a quality coach who will be with the team for five years at least so that he can have ample time to develop the current team. They are looking outside the country.
“The plan is to have the new coach by January 2024, they regret their decision not to allow Tunisian-born coach Nasreddine Nabi to bring his own technical team.
“The club wouldn’t be in this mess right now if Nabi was allowed to work with a technical team of his choice. But it’s a good thing that they now realise their mistakes.
“The new coach will come from outside South Africa as they are looking for quality, and they are currently assessing a few coaches from abroad.
“The plan is to have the new coach by January so that he can have enough time to work with the squad during the AFCON break.
“The club is aware that some players at Chiefs are getting a lot of money, but they are not adding anything to the team.
“The club is looking into new ways of involving their former players more in scouting players, but it’s going to be only former players who are qualified in coaching.
“They are planning to set up satellite development academies and not only depend on their current developments sides because not every child will be able to attend training in Naturena.
“There are a lot of good youngsters from the villages who the club’s legends feel they can recommend and groom for the club.
“The satellite coaches will work closely with the new coach.
“Another thing the legends raised with the club is that at the moment there is no special player at Kaizer Chiefs. Someone who can carry the team on the pitch.”
