Do you know how to keep yourself in God’s love? This is an important question because only in his love do we feel safe and secure, happy and blessed. And his love is the rightful and most joyful place for all his children. Hence we need to know how to stay there. Only when we remember God’s goodness, do we dare to wait for God. The letter of Jude guides us this way:
But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life. (Jude 20-21, NIV)
How to keep yourself in God’s love, you ask? By building yourself up in your faith and praying in the Holy Spirit. That’s how you can stay in his love. And when we do so, we are equipped to wait for the mercy of Jesus to bring us eternal life.
How do we build ourselves in faith, you ask? By praying in the Holy Spirit, by basking in the light of God’s Word. And by surrendering to Jesus daily, letting him empower us for Christian living. It’s not us doing the work, our job is to lean on Jesus and let the Holy Spirit continually work in us.
How to keep yourself in God’s love
I love how we are told to keep ourselves in God’s love. It’s not just to be a feel-good fact of his goodness but a lived reality for all who believe. Only when we live in God’s love, are we able to fight the good fight. Otherwise, we give in to either pleasures or temptations. But when we keep on building ourselves up in our faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, we – by God’s grace – keep ourselves in God’s love and are hence equipped for both waiting and following God’s leading.
Our God is awesome. He wants us to live in his love. He knows it’s the best place for us. So Christian living is meant to be joyful even when things are tough. Do not live under your privileges. Learn to position yourself in God’s love. Seek God and his love. Ask and you will receive. Every day.
Gracious God,
You are so amazingly good to us.
Whenever we make faith more complicated than it is, you show us love and grace and invite us to live in them.
Show us how simple it is to keep yourself in your love.
Enable us to forsake all other ways to live.
Keep us faithful and bold for you.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
P.S.
Do you keep yourself in God’s love? I hope so. It is the best place to be. Seek God and ask him to surround you with his love. Remember all the promises in the Bible are for you. Embrace them and live in the joy of them. Nothing compares to God’s love. And it is yours. Bask in it, revel in it. And then go and share with all whom you encounter! Abundant blessings to you, my friend!
