Rand Water postpones major 58-hour shutdown in Joburg
Potable water supplier, Rand Water, has confirmed that the 58-hour planned water shutdown in Johannesburg is postponed until further notice.
The planned water outage would have started at 19:00 on Tuesday, 20 June, to Thursday, 22 June at 15:00.
Rand Water said the purpose of the planned shutdown is to complete a tie-in between the A19 and B14 with a new pipeline, installation of isolation valves, and system upgrades at its Eikenhof pump station.
The company said the Johannesburg Water infrastructure supplied by the Eikenhof pump station would be affected by no water supply. It was also estimated that full recovery of systems may take approximately five days or longer after the supply has been fully restored.
