Social media users have thanked ANC MP Tina Joemat-Pettersson for her hilarious memes throughout the years. This is after TimesLIVE reported that the 59-year-old passed away on Monday, 5 June at her home in Cape Town.

Fans of the ANC MP Tina Joemat-Petterson will always remember her for her iconic memes; from her frowns, licking her teacup to her winks in parliament, though she was no stranger to controversy as her death came amid wild allegations of extortion levelled against her.
Joemat-Petterson, who was the chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Police got South Africans glued to their screens during parliament because of her humour.

ANC MP’S CAUSE OF DEATH NOT REVEALED
Social media users have speculated that Tina Joemat-Pettersson either took her own life or was murdered as her cause of death has not yet been revealed.
@KingKele6: “I suspect she has been killed she was about to tell all confess.”
Radio personality @DavidMashabela said: “May Tina Joemat-Pettersson’s soul rest in peace. Interesting how the reports don’t say what or how she died.”
IOL reported Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s husband Mandla Skhosana laid a complaint with the police accusing Joemat-Pettersson of trying to extort money from him.
While Independent Media reported that Joemat-Pettersson and the three MPs including (ANC) Parliamentary Chief Whip Pemmy Majodina and chairperson of the inquiry Qubudile Dyantyi, were allegedly trying to extort a R600 000 bribe from Mkhwebane and her husband.
Sunday World reveals that Joemat-Pettersson yesterday, 5 June said she welcomes police investigations into the matter.
A recent Sunday Independent exposé implicated her and two other MPs for soliciting a bribe to make suspended Public Protector advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s Section 194 Parliamentary inquiry go away.
The Star confirmed on Monday, 5 June that Skosana met Hawks investigators in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, on Friday, 2 June where he handed over all the WhatsApp messages between him and Joemat-Pettersson.
Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Thandi Mbambo confirmed: “We can confirm that the Hawks received a case docket of extortion as per cas 95/05/23 for further investigation. Investigating is at its infancy stage. We are not at liberty to discuss details thereof so as to protect the integrity of the investigation.”
