THE THIRD SEASON OF ‘PROJEK DINA’ TO HIT TV SCREENS IN MAY
In the third season, the tough and talented task team from Cape Town returns to solve crimes and find the mastermind behind the big syndicate they’ve been investigating since season one.
Projek Dina starts on 9 May 2023 on kykNET (DStv Channel 144), and it’s not just the cases that cause drama but also the constant changes and challenges in
the personal lives of the task team members.
The third season has ten episodes, each featuring one or two different missing persons cases. Real South African events inspire every investigation.
Nicci Rheeder of Missing Children SA and Marcel van der Watt, who worked with many missing person cases over his years as a member of the SAPS, served as consultants for the writing team. Marcel is currently in Washington, America, where he is the director of a research institution.
Ronel (Chanelle de Jager), Lux (Chumani Pan), and Charlie (Kay Smith) are back in the office, but Deon (Tim Theron) has been asked to help with a case abroad. So, Deon hires Zander (Laudo Liebenberg) to take charge of the task team.
Laudo Liebenberg is not the only new face in season three – Deon Coetzee, known for his roles in Egoli and Binnelanders, Arno Greeff, Cintaine Schutte, Frank Rautenbach, and Corine du Toit, is also part of the action.
The task team operates in a pressure-cooker environment. For every hour a person remains missing, the likelihood of finding them alive decreases. These emotionally taxing conditions take their toll on the officers’ mental health and personal relationships.
And when you have four intense personalities operating in a high-stress environment, interpersonal conflict is inevitable. But despite the occasional blow-ups, the team always comes together when it counts.

A LOT TO PROCESS
In season two, Ronel finally found Dina, and the two were reunited. But in season three, things don’t turn out as Ronel hoped they would. Dina has a lot of trauma to
process and the more Ronel tries to help her, the more she drifts away.
Will Ronel be able to convince Dina to tell the truth? Will both sisters be able to face their own issues?
At the end of season two, Charlie and Lux find each other in a romantic kiss. In season three, they’re still in a relationship but not without hiccups and setbacks.
Charlie is healthy after her gunshot wound but is not yet where she wants to be emotionally.
The fact that Lux goes out of his way to protect Charlie causes friction. Charlie needs more space, but Lux feels guilty and wants to do everything
he can to make up for it. But is it too late?
The team is sad about Deon’s departure, but they also have many questions about the strange character Deon hired as his replacement. Zander thinks in curves and four dimensions. Definitely not your average guy, but according to Deon, he’s the best detective he has ever worked with. Will the team ever get along with him
though, and is he really as good as Deon thinks?
Roberta Durrant, the executive producer of Projek Dina, says the third season will have viewers glued to the screen.
“Ronel has finally found her beloved sister Dina, but who exactly has she found?”
“The kingpin behind the syndicate is revealed, and our hero cops work tirelessly to bring down the syndicate. Along the way, however, each is dealt heavy blows which threaten to wreck the entire investigation,” says Roberta.
The season will have English subtitles and will also be available on DStv Catch Up.
