WHY WAS DR NANDIPHA MADUDUMANA’S DAD NABBED?
EWN revealed on Saturday, 8 April that Police took Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s father in for questioning to get more information in their investigation into the prison break of her partner, Thabo Bester.
The SAPS is hoping that Magudumana’s father and an employee will shed light on their investigation into Bester’s escape from Mangaung Correctional Centre in 2011.
Police Minister Bheki Cele revealed in a media briefing that Magudumana and Bester couldn’t have acted alone.
“We believe that the doctor herself could not have done it alone – this thing of keeping him safe and all that running. But if police are part of a cover-up, then we will find them. But I believe that a big portion of police, they just try to do their work and fly below the radar,” said Cele in a media briefing.

IS HER FATHER INVOLVED?
ENCA reveals that police were looking for Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s family, her mother , her brother, and her father in particular.
It is reported that her family was living in her Hyde Park home at some point, though it’s unclear if this was before or after Bester’s escape.
A property developer told ENCA that Nandipha moved her family to an apartment, to probably make way for Bester.
“Police are looking for accomplices, people that may have known about the death in prison. Nandi’s father was arrested with three others. They’re arrested with regards to bodies that may be buried in the Hyde Park hideout,” reports ENCA.
TimesLIVE reported on Wednesday, 5 April that two employees, a helper, and a gardener, who worked for Bester and Magudumana are missing.
TimesLIVE also revealed on Sunday, 9 April that police are also investigating any involvement in the three corpses that were stolen by Dr Nandipha Magudumana from Free State mortuaries.
The celebrity doctor, who is accused of committing insurance fraud reportedly stole three unclaimed bodies from Free State mortuaries to use as a replacement for her lover Thabo Bester during his prison escape.
According to Zimoja, one of the bodies, which Dr Nandi claimed to be of her father, was found dumped in a river with its identification toe tag still attached, a week after she took possession of it.
The second body was that of an unknown man whom they claimed was Bester and had burnt to death at the Magaung Correctional Center in May 2022. It is unknown who the third body belongs to at this stage.
Minister Lamola said a warrant of arrest has been issued for Dr Nandi’s arrest as she needs to come back to the country and face the law for her crimes.
