MARCH AND MARCH MOVEMENT ALLEGES FACEBOOK SUSPENSION OF LEADER’S PAGE AMID POLITICAL TENSIONS JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
DURBAN: The March and March Movement has raised concerns following the suspension of its leader Jacinta Zinhle MaNgobese Zuma’s Facebook page.
In a statement released on Saturday, 7 November 2026, the movement confirmed that Zuma’s Facebook page had been suspended, assuring supporters that she would continue communicating with South Africans through the organisation’s official Facebook page. The movement also warned the public against following other Facebook accounts operating under Zuma’s name, saying she had neither created nor authorised any new pages.
The suspension comes amid heightened political tensions following the 2026 Local Government Elections, with the movement linking the development to what it describes as devastating electoral outcomes for the former ruling party.
March and March further suggested that its outspoken position on migration, unemployment, economic challenges and gender-based violence may have contributed to the alleged targeting of its leader.
However, the organisation did not provide evidence linking the Facebook suspension to political interference. Despite the development, the movement vowed not to abandon its campaign, reaffirming its commitment to peaceful marches and legal action through the SA First Forum.
It says its campaign will continue to pressure the government to prioritise South Africans, deport undocumented foreign nationals and address the documentation of undocumented South Africans.
The movement estimates that more than 15 million illegal foreign nationals are in the country and that approximately 4.4 million South Africans remain undocumented. These figures are claims made by the organisation and were not independently verified in its statement.
