AND TIBZ MURDER TRIAL POSTPONED TO APRIL 2027 AS SEVEN ACCUSED REMAIN BEHIND BARS
Durban: The highly anticipated trial of seven men accused of murdering award-winning rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, and his friend, celebrity chef and businessman Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, has been adjourned by the Durban High Court to April 2027.
The trial, which commenced in early October 2026, has heard evidence from more than 20 witnesses as the State continues to build its case against the seven accused.
Evidence presented in court so far includes video footage, vehicle-tracking data, ballistic evidence and financial records, which the prosecution is relying on to establish the alleged involvement of the accused in the murders and related offences.
The seven accused are Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande.
They face a series of serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of murder, multiple counts of attempted murder, as well as firearm- and ammunition-related offences.
AKA and Motsoane were gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on 10 February 2023, in a shooting that sent shockwaves across the country and attracted international attention.
The matter is expected to resume on 12 April 2027 and continue until 14 May 2027, when the State will proceed with presenting further evidence in its case.
All seven accused will remain behind bars until the continuation of the trial.
The postponement means the families of the victims and the public will have to wait several more months for further developments in a case that has remained one of South Africa’s most closely followed celebrity murder trials.
