MAKHADZI AND HER TEAM SAFE IN BOTSWANA AS SA HIGH COMMISSION INTERVENES IN CONTRACTUAL DISPUTE
Gaborone, Botswana: South African award-winning musician Makhadzi and her team have been confirmed safe and back at their hotel following an incident in Botswana that required the intervention of the South African High Commission in Gaborone.
The Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) Deputy Director-General for Public Diplomacy, Clayton Monyela, confirmed to MDN News that the matter had been attended to and that the artist and her team were safe.
According to Monyela, Makhadzi had earlier visited the South African High Commission in Gaborone, where the matter was addressed.
“The matter is being attended too. She was at the South African High Commission in Gaborone earlier today. She and her team are safe and back at their hotel. The contractual dispute is being dealt with,” Monyela said.
The intervention comes amid reports of a contractual dispute involving the musician and parties in Botswana.
While the immediate situation appears to have been brought under control, the contractual disagreement is still being handled.
Makhadzi, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is one of South Africa’s most popular music performers, with a strong following across the continent.
The development has brought relief to her supporters, particularly following concerns surrounding the artist’s situation while in Botswana.
Further details surrounding the nature of the contractual dispute and the parties involved are yet to be established
