Legendary 90s South African Pop & R&B Duo Twins Return to the Spotlight with Reimagined Hit Single “Amalangabi”
Iconic South African R&B and pop group Twins have announced their official return to the music scene after more than two decades.
Original members Nhlanhla Shabangu and Lucky Shabangu are reuniting to launch a vibrant new era in their celebrated musical journey, marked by the release of their upcoming single, “Amalangabi” later today.
Twins rose to nationwide prominence during the 1990s, capturing the hearts of music lovers across age groups with their soothing R&B melodies, authentic African harmonies, and deeply personal songwriting.
Hits like “Love 10 Thousand” cemented their position as one of the defining musical acts of the era, establishing a lasting legacy in South Africa’s rich cultural heritage.
Following years of remarkable success, the duo stepped back from the public eye to pursue separate personal and professional endeavors.
Despite their absence, their body of work remained a cherished staple of South African pop culture, passed down and remembered for its emotional sincerity and warmth.
Now, Nhlanhla and Lucky are stepping back onto the national stage with “Amalangabi,” a modern reimagining of their smash hit “Love 10 Thousand.”
The single honors the soulful essence and signature harmonies of the original recording while infusing contemporary soundscapes tailored for today’s listeners.
Designed to bridge generations, “Amalangabi” offers an uplifting celebration of love, memory, and enduring connection.
“This return is not simply about revisiting the past,” the duo noted regarding their comeback. “It is about celebrating a legacy, reconnecting through music, and sharing a renewed artistic voice across generations.”
The release of “Amalangabi” precedes a series of major milestones planned for the group:
Forthcoming Full-Length Album: Twins are set to drop a new studio album before the end of the year, reflecting their artistic growth and renewed creative vision.
Nationwide Tour: Nhlanhla and Lucky will embark on a tour across South Africa, bringing their trademark harmony, energy, and timeless hits back to live stages.
