KOPFONTEIN PORT OF ENTRY RESUMES OPERATIONS

KOPFONTEIN PORT OF ENTRY RESUMES OPERATIONS

The Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato wishes to inform members of the public, travellers and the trading community that operations at the Kopfontein Port of Entry, which borders South Africa and Botswana, have resumed following a temporary suspension caused by infrastructure challenges.

The temporary suspension was necessitated by a spillage that affected the residential area adjacent to the port of entry, creating operational challenges that required intervention in consultation with the relevant Botswana authorities.

Following engagements and the necessary interventions to address the challenges, the BMA confirms that the port of entry has resumed operations.

Travellers and members of the trading community are advised that normal processing activities have resumed from 06h00 today and the port will close at midnight daily.

The BMA will continue to work closely with the Botswana counterparts and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the smooth facilitation of legitimate movement of people and goods across the border.

The BMA appreciates the patience, cooperation and understanding demonstrated by travellers, transport operators and the community during the temporary suspension.
