DA UNVEILS NEW WATER TANKER MAFIA BILLBOARD IN ETHEKWINI
The Democratic Alliance (DA) has unveiled a new billboard in eThekwini, renewing its criticism of the municipality’s handling of the water crisis ahead of the local government elections scheduled for 4 November.
The billboard reads: “You, the residents of eThekwini, are now the last line of defence.”
DA provincial chairperson Dean Macpherson said the campaign follows a legal dispute over an earlier billboard highlighting water shortages and allegations of a so-called water tanker mafia.
Macpherson accused the municipality of failing to adequately address water infrastructure problems, including leaks, wastewater issues and pollution affecting rivers and beaches.
The DA has pledged to investigate alleged unlawful activities linked to water tanker operations if elected to govern eThekwini. The party has identified repairing water leaks and restoring deteriorating infrastructure as key priorities under mayoral candidate Haniff Hoosen.
