Mbekezeli Mbokazi Games 2026: Where Rural Talent Gets Its Shot
Three days. Thousands of fans. Scouts watching. One stage in KwaZulu-Natal where dreams can take off.
The Mbekezeli Mbokazi Foundation is opening the gates for the 3rd Annual Mbekezeli Mbokazi Games, and this year the stakes are higher than ever.
From 17 to 19 December 2026 at Malabela Sports Ground in KwaNibela, Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal, the tournament will turn a rural field into a showcase for the next generation of footballers.
More Than a Tournament
Founded by football star Mbekezeli Mbokazi, the Games exist for one reason: to find talent that might otherwise go unseen.
Thousands of supporters pack the terraces every year, and talent-scouting teams come looking for young players with the drive and ability to make it in professional football.
For a kid from a rural community, one good tournament can change everything.
Three Days, Three Codes
The action spans men’s football, women’s football and netball. Athletes, supporters and community members will share three days of competition, celebration and entertainment, all under one roof of local pride.
The Economy Gets a Kick Too
The Games are also a boost for local business. As players, families and visitors flood into Malabela Sportsground, small traders, SMMEs and micro-entrepreneurs in surrounding communities can expect a surge in customers, sales and profits.
Business, Get in the Game
The Foundation is calling on businesses, investors and sporting stakeholders to step up, especially by backing quality sporting infrastructure.
Better facilities mean young athletes can train harder, develop faster and chase their dreams closer to home.
