“It wasn’t him,” Marawa gives latest on Parker’s “split” from Kacha
Bernard Parker has asked the public and the media to give him space, following a statement recently published on his Instagram.
The statement announced the end of his relationship with Kacha Stepanovic. The former Bafana Bafana player has distanced himself from the post, and the conversation grew when broadcaster Robert Marawa commented on the matter on radio.
Speaking on Marawa Sports Worldwide, Marawa said he had spoken to Parker that afternoon.
“Let me clarify one thing: the statement that was released did not come from him,” he said.
He was responding to a listener who asked whether Parker had been dismissed from TS Galaxy. The question arose because Parker was absent from the match against Orlando Pirates and from the Carling Knockout draw.
According to Marawa, Parker had not had his phone for 14 days, and “someone was using it.” He added that the matter has been handed to a communications company. A resolution is expected within 48 hours.
Marawa also said Parker will comment further once he has finished consulting his legal representatives.
In a statement issued by The Bernard Parker Foundation, Parker said any message written in his name should be treated as official only if it is confirmed by him or his manager. He asked people not to “spread unverified information or speculation” about his private life.
Parker said he is handling the matter “privately and responsibly,” stressing the dignity and wellbeing of everyone involved, especially the children. He also thanked fans, colleagues and the football community for their understanding.
For now, it is not entirely clear which parts of the original message he endorses. The status of his marriage to Wendy Parker has also not been clarified.
