Mandeni Mayor Joins Morning Prayer And Search Of Two Boys Who Drowned At The Tugela River

The Mayor of Mandeni Municipality, Thabani Mdlalose in KwaaZulu Natal (KZN) joined members of two families whose children went missing in the Tugela River after going for a swim on Sunday.

According to reports, the boys, aged between 12 and 13, are members of the Xulu and Mthembu families from Ward 15.

They were last seen on Sunday when they went to swim in the river.

Mdlalose assembled a team of divers, a disaster management team, and the police to assist in locating the children, following days of search efforts that were hindered by the river’s strong currents.

Both boys have now been found, and community members are urged to give the families space to mourn and cope with this difficult situation.

“As the Mandeni Municipality, we deeply sympathize with the bereaved families and extend our condolences to the families, relatives, and friends. We will continue to work together with the families to ensure that their children receive a dignified burial,” said Mdlalose.
