Chaine leads heavily changed Bafana side against Egypt, Okon admits excitement in camp

Sipho Chaine will lead the line in goal as Pitso Mosimane makes wholesale changes to the Bafana Bafana team for their international friendly against Egypt at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday night.

Mosimane had promised to give players who missed the previous two matches against Guinea and Eritrea an opportunity — and he has stuck to his word.

Central defender Ime Okon is the only survivor from the starting XI that featured in those two matches.

Okon says the players are excited about testing themselves against one of Africa’s biggest footballing nations.

“Egypt is one of the biggest teams in Africa. As a player, you always want to play the best teams and challenge yourself.

“The feeling within the team is very exciting. We want to play against them and test ourselves to show what we are about. We are looking forward to the game,” Okon said ahead of kick-off.

Bafana Bafana XI: Chaine, Matuludi, Basadien, Okon, Seema, Matthews, Sithole, Poggenpoel, Dithejane, Singh, Mailula.

Subs: Goss, Williams, Kabini, Morena, Makhanya, Ndamane, Sibisi, Zwane, Campbell, Moremi, Mbuthuma, Rayners.

Egypt XI: Shobeir, Hany, Abdel Meguid, Rabia, Karim, Mohannad, Marwan, Emam, Ibrahim, Marmoush, Ziko.
