Moses Mabhida to host blockbuster MTN8 final
The world-famous Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban has been confirmed as the venue for the highly anticipated MTN8 final between Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) made the announcement on Monday night after keeping the venue under wraps for some time.
The final will take place on 10 October, with kickoff scheduled for 6pm.
Pirates were drawn as the home side, despite the final being played at a neutral venue.
Before the draw, PSL spokesperson Fhathuwani Mpfuni explained what comes with being designated the home team.
“First choice of the kit, first choice of the changeroom… and all other privileges that go with being the home side,” explained Mpfuni.
The announcement now sets the stage for a massive showdown between two of South Africa’s biggest clubs.
The MTN8 final is expected to draw a huge crowd to Moses Mabhida Stadium, with tickets going on sale this Friday.
Prices will start from R150. Pirates vs Sundowns. Moses Mabhida. 10 October. 6pm. The stage is set.
