Media Statement POLOKWANE – Police in Westenburg have arrested a 44-year-old male suspect following a shooting incident that occurred during an eviction at Ga-Rena Rental Village in Ladanna outside Polokwane on Wednesday, 24 July 2024. Preliminary investigations revealed that during the enforcement of an eviction order at the suspect’s house, an altercation ensued between the occupant and the enforcement officials. During the commotion, the suspect allegedly discharged a firearm, injuring two people in the process. Both victims were immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment. The suspect was apprehended at the scene by SAPS officers and is currently in police custody. Two firearms with ammunition, one believed to have been used in the shooting have been confiscated. The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing. The suspect, who reportedly owns a security company, is expected to appear before Polokwane Magistrate’s Court soon facing charges of attempted murder. Police investigations are ongoing. Ends
