EKURHULENI DISTRICT – Integrated operations between SAPS members and other law enforcement agencies to clamp down on criminal activities in the Ekurhuleni District from Friday 19 July 2024 to Sunday morning 21 July 2024, led to the arrest of 185 suspects. Among the suspects arrested, ninety (90) were arrested for contact Crimes, twenty one, (21) (3) three for tempering with essential infrastructure and (24) for GBV related issues. 108 suspects were nabbed during High density Operations conducted at Ekurhuleni District Police Station under the leadership of station Commanders as well as Vispol Commanders In Kempton Park, On Friday 19 July 2024 two firearms were removed from the streets while SAPS members responded to a complaint of robbery in progress at Sim road. On their way they come across three boys on the same street looking suspicious, they searched them and found two firearms in their possession with two magazines and 27 live rounds as well as the victim’s cellphones. Preliminary investigations also revealed that the suspects hijacked a small truck, which was also recovered. Law enforcement members and other stakeholders that participated in the operations were commended by the District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole for their efforts in making an impact in the District in order to reduce crime.
