Media Statement GAUTENG – Integrated Safer festive season operations to clamp down on various suspects yielded positive results in Ekurhuleni District .This comes after 177 were arrested by the Detectives during safer festive season cross over operations conducted between Tuesday, 31 December 2024 to Wednesday morning, 01 January 2025. The main weekly safer festive season Operations (Shanela) were conducted in Olifantsfontein area on Thursday, 02 January 2024, under the leadership of Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole, whereby 7 suspects were nabbed for being illegal immigrants, 19 Traffic fines to the value of R13000-00 issued to the motorists, 3 liquor outlets shutdown, 2 suspects arrested for selling liquor without license, 1 suspect for liquor non-compliance, Pokes of dagga, liquor, mandrax, Crystal meth a fireworks were seized. Members of Ekurhuleni District Social crime also engaged with community members at Olifantsfontein shopping centre and safety tips pamphlets regarding Gender based violence issues were issued to the community members
Members of law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders who took part in the operations were commended by the District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole for their efforts in making an impact in Ekurhuleni areas.
