Media Statement POLOKWANE – Musina Regional Court sentenced, a 28-year-old accused, Fanie Ndou, to 15 years imprisonment for tampering with infrastructure and Contravention of the Immigration Act, on Tuesday, 18 February 2025. In 2023 October 23 at about 22:00, the complainant received a signal network shutdown on a tower at Musina. The following day, at around 09:30, a company employee made the follow-up at the site. On his arrival, he found that the tower was broken and about 80 meter of cable was cut off with the estimated value of R100 000.00. The matter was reported to Musina SAPS. On 2023 October 24 at about 00:10, the Police received information about a suspicious male person carrying a big bag. The members responded swiftly to the scene and where they have found an unknown man in possession of a suspicious bag with three bundles of electric cable, a red sachet with a saw and a knife. Preliminary investigations by the police linked the suspect with the tower break-in at Musina and he was arrested. The suspect has appeared before Musina Regional Court several times without any bail granted, until Tuesday, 18 February 2025, when the accused was sentenced as follows: Count 1: Tampering with infrastructure- sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment Count 3: Contravention of Immigration Act (illegal immigrant) sentenced to two years’ imprisonment. The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the meticulous investigation by the investigating team as well as other role players that resulted in the Court outcome.
