Media Statement PARKTOWN – On Saturday 17 February 2019, at about 00:05, members of Duduza Crime Prevention were on duty when they received information about a male who was in possession of a firearm. Members operationalised the information, and along Lekope Street, Duduza, they have spotted the male, fitting the description circulated. Members approached the suspect and conducted a search on him that resulted in recovering a firearm, with no serial numbers, with one magazine containing six live rounds, and he was arrested, detained and exhibit booked in. Firearm was taken to Ballistic, and the results were that the serial numbers were obliterated. Kutloano Mmusi, aged 31, was found guilty recently by the Nigel Magistrate’s Court for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Both charges were taken together for the purpose of the sentence. He was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment, and he was declared unfit to possess a firearm. The Deputy District Commissioner, Brigadier Lebohang Machakela, applauded Detective Sergeant K Motabeni for the great work done to ensure safety and security to the residents in the area. Ends
