NELSPRUIT – Operation Vala Umgodi continues to gain momentum and members this time apprehended 13 suspects aged between 18 and 43 on Saturday, 05 April 2025 at Low’s Creek. The team conducted a stop and search operation on the R38 Road near Low’s Creek. It was during this time when the group of undocumented persons were nabbed for contravention of the Immigration Act of South Africa. The suspects were then charged accordingly and are expected to appear at the Barberton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 07 April 2025, facing the said charges. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr.) Zeph Mkhwanazi has applauded members assigned for Operation Vala Umgodi for their resilience as they continue to make a huge impact in dismantling illegal mining activities in the province.
