The Constitutional Court of South Africa hears a critical legal challenge against the National Health Insurance (NHI) Act.
Civil society groups and stakeholders have gathered in support of the NHI Act as proceedings unfold from Constitutional Hill in Braamfontein.
The case, brought forward by the Board of Healthcare Funders and the Western Cape Government, challenges key aspects of the NHI framework.
Proceedings are expected to run from 5 to 7 May 2026.
