๐จ The African National Congress (ANC) has officially distanced itself from a food parcel distribution initiative linked to Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts, saying the programme used the partyโs branding without authorization.
According to the partyโs statement released on Wednesday, images and videos circulating on social media showed food parcels being distributed while displaying the ANCโs name, colours and branding. The party warned that this created the false impression that the activity was an official ANC campaign.
๐ข The ANC clarified that the distribution was not authorised by any structure of the organization. While acknowledging that members often help communities through charity work, the party stressed that private initiatives must never be presented as official party programmes.
โ ๏ธ The party also confirmed that Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts has been reprimanded, along with others who participated in the activity under the ANC banner without proper approval.
The statement further emphasized that community assistance must protect the dignity and respect of people, and should never be done in a way that undermines their humanity.
